Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including Modern, Jazz and Lyrical and Classical Ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. At Studio Unique we offer two separate classes; one for Juniors and one for Seniors this allows students to work collaboratively.
Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. At Studio Unique we offer separate classes for Babies, Infants, Juniors and Seniors. Students are given longer class times to explore all elements of Musical Theatre to enable them to become Triple Threat students.
Acrobatics is based on flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling. It is a fusion of many dance styles with gymnastic techniques. Because of the level of technique needed to perform this style everyone attending this class at Studio Unique will also need to be attending either an ISTD Imperial Ballet or Modern Theatre class as well. This class is offered from Pre-School level through to our Junior level students.
A dance style with African roots and technical movements which has evolved into today’s popular jazz styles as seen in the theatre. This can also be developed within the ISTD Modern Syllabus but it is also found at Studio Unique as a Adult Dance and Fitness class.
Stretching and Limbering
This class is offered to all students to help with their flexibility and core control. This is especially useful for anyone wanting to compete and want to progress their dance career further.
